A two-day Workshop on “Environment Management Training” was inaugurated at Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara with the financial assistance from Directorate of Environment and Climate Change (DoECC), Government of Kerala. The program was inaugurated by the College Manager Rev.Fr. (Dr.) Abraham Oliapurath, on Saturday, 5th March 2022. Program Co-ordinator Dr. Sindhu Joseph and IQAC Co-ordinator Dr. Ajay Joseph also addressed the gathering. Dr. Giby Kuriakose, Dr. Shaiju P, Dr. Semichan Joseph and Dr. Sindhu Joseph gave lectures on Biodiversity Conservation, Green auditing, Environment Impact Assessment (EIA), Sustainable Rebuilding of Kerala in the post flood and Covid Scenario and Solid Waste Management. The second day of the workshop was on Saturday, 12th March, at MBA Seminar Hall of BMC. The invited speakers were Dr. Abesh Reghuvaran, Adv. Harish Vasudevan, Dr. Mathew George, Dr. C. M Joy and Dr. Martin G. D.

As the world is in chaos of disparity and oppression social work practice plays an important role in maintaining social justice and paving way for societal transformation of the oppressive structures that keep many powerless by tending individuals’ instant needs. Structural social work is one among progressive and radical practice methods in social work. Bharata Mata School of Social work organised “International Workshop on Structural Social Work” on - 20th, & 21st September 2021 from 8.00am-11.45 am. 67 participants from all around the globe participated in the workshop and gained hypothetical experiences and practical framework on structural social work .

The Department of Finance and Taxation organised a workshop on the theme “Self Presentation Skills” as part of the Expert Talk Series with the objective to create, modify and maintain an impression of ourselves in the minds of others. The speaker for the workshop was Mr. Sanju P Cherian, a certified trainer, speaker, leadership consultant and mentalist. The programme started with a welcome address by Head of the Department Asst. Prof Julie P J, and it was followed by the workshop. The session was interactive and lively. The session dealt with how self-presentation is a pervasive feature of social life and how we should possess the various characteristics of self-presentation. There were totally 94 participants which included students and faculty.

A three day research orientation workshop series had been organised for final year students by the Department of Marketing. The sessions were provided as to give knowledge and assistance on how to do the final year project. The coordinator of the programme was Ms.Rehana John. It was arranged from 20th September,
2021 (Monday) to 22nd September, 2021 (Wedneday). The resource person of the workshop series was Dr.Vineeth K M,Asst.Professor and Research Supervisor, Post Graduate Department of Commerce, Govt. College, Thripunithura. The 3 day session comprised of topics that are necessarily dealt while preparing the project.

Day 1-Problem Formulation and Review of Literature
The session began with a warm welcome by Mr.Maninath R, HoD, Department of Marketing,
Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara.Sahal Shakeer of III DC Marketing anchored the programme. The mentor of 3 day series workshop ,Dr. Vineeth K M enlightened the students on the day’s topic. Regarding how to formulate a topic and how to deal with the topic chosen. He also suggested sites and websites for finding out good topics for the UG projects.Different search methods ,types of data search and avoiding of plagiarism were also dealt.His presentation was very interesting and informative.T he meeting ccame to an end with the Q & A session in which students doubts regarding problem formulation were cleared.
Day 2-Measurement Scaling and Questionnaire Design
Second day of research orientation programme was compered by Gopika V Nair of III DC Marketing.Dr.Vineeth K M started the class by introducing the concept of measurement and scaling.It included primary scales of measurement ,scale characteristics,scaling techniques,types of scales etc.He took a detailed class over that topic with presentation ,which was really helpful to understand it easily. Then he talked about creating questionnaires,types of questions in an online questionnaire and at last he showed some questionnaire samples.Day 2 was really productive and impressive.After the class there was question answer session ,students asked some doubts related to creating questionnaire.He clarified the doubts clearly
Day 3- Analysis for Students Project
The third day research orientation class was compered by Nanda T S of IIIDC Marketing. The class was based on the concept of data analysis for students UG Project.Dr.Vineeth showed the students how to make google form and what are the things to be kept in mind while creating a google form etc. Dr. Vineeth also taught values and ethics that are to be followed in the project. He gave a very clear idea about the topic within a limited period of time .Then we moved on to the Q&A session ,students cleared all their doubts. The session was concluded by Ms. Rehana John, Asst. Professor of Marketing Department,BharataMata College,Thrikkakara who delivered the vote of thanks.

Hello BMC... Balettan Speaking is a one day workshop conducted by Radio BMC as a part of training the young RJ’s of BMC and to make them aware about various possibilities and opportunites in voice industry. Around 11 students participated in the workshop. The session started with a prayer song by Lakshmi, Niranjana and Anaswara followed by a welcome address by Mr Tony M Tom , Asst Prof MSW and Radio In Charge. Balakrishna Periya started the talk with a beautiful outline of his profession and his home town. Coming from Kasargod , he clearly mentioned the journey of his to the voice industry. He also mentioned that anyone could be a part of voice industry. For that one needs to recognise their own voice. During his talk, he clearly mentioned Being a record holder in Asian book of records, it is to his father he is indebted for being a part of voice industry. He recollected that right from std 4 , he started reading out letters to his father which was written by his eldest brother . he mentioned that he was a part of Kochi metro emergency announcement male voice. Throughout his talk he highlighted that 50 % of our personality belongs to our voice and it is better if we Recognise it. He also mentioned the different packages earned by the voice professionals. Being an Economics graduate , he also mentioned the need for understanding the practicality of our course . He rightly mentioned that students are eager to learn and mug up course wherein they can write an clear any exam but then they don’t take pain to prepare to speak up and that is the reason why a student get nervous while attending an interview. There was an interaction with the students after the session and he answered every question quoting an example from his life. He also mentioned that the future belongs to voice professionals. Audio books, podcasts, media, etc.. Being the highlights. He also mentioned about the ‘sound park ‘ institution owned by him. The session concluded with a positive note as in voice is a blessing and should be made use of . Once the session was over , Sri Balakrishna Periya , was presented a memento as a token of love and gratitude. Vote of thanks was delivered by Ashin , Student Coordinator, Radio Bmc.

U&I Workshop and Signing of MOU for Community Service Initiaition Programme
for the Year 2022-23

The Post Graduate Department of English, Bharata Mata College Thrikkakara in association with U&I, one of the top ten NGO’s that work for social good by empowering underprivileged children through education, initiated a community service programme by signing an MOU on 27.7.2022, 1.30 pm at the A.V.Room, Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara. The two parties mutually agreed and declared to implement the social action programme successfully for the academic year 2022-23. By associating with U&I, the learning inspired program the Post Graduate Department of English intends to provide hands-on training to the students along with enhancing their self-confidence, organizational skills and social commitment.
The Programme commenced at 1.30 pm and Ms. Lissy Kachappilly the extension programme coordinator of the Department of English, welcomed the gathering and shared extreme happiness in partnering with U&I and joining their vision to reach out to more children who are in need. The Principal, Dr. K. M. Johnson, in his felicitation pointed out the relevance of extension activities and congratulated the Department for instigating the spirit of service and social commitment in the students. The Head of the English Department, Dr.Mini.M.Abraham handed over the MOU to the volunteers of the U&I organisation. The volunteers then interacted with the students for 2 hrs and explained the vision, mission and mode of operandi of U&I. They also shared their personal experiences and the great mental satisfaction they achieve in associating with the learning inspired programmes of U&I and motivated the students to join the community service activities. Around 50 students participated in the workshop and 15 students volunteered for the programme. U&I informed that the volunteers will receive certificates and internships according to their performance. The impressive, interactive and inspiring session was concluded with a vote of thanks by around 4 pm. The programme for the day was coordinated by Dr.Thara Gangadharan.

A theatre workshop was conducted from 22nd to 24th June 2022 at KANAV School, Wayanad. The theatre workshop was a different experience for the trainee.
The first day was mainly focused on the individual and his/ her family. The second day it concentrated on social problems and trainees were divided into pairs. The third and last day the trainees worked in a group of 5 members. Each day was unique and different so that the trainees got different knowledge and experience. It was a second home for the trainees.

One day workshop was held for the Radio BMC RJs wherein the former RJ’s of the college who have established their names in the media and related fields were invited for sharing their experience and to brief the advantages of exposures received in the RADIO BMC TEAM. The workshop began with a welcome note by Sasya Grace following which Mr Tony M Tom , Assistant Professor, Department of MSW and Radio in charge introduced the former RJs . Mr Ajin- assistant show producer/VJ at behindwoods, Ms Eve - Pursuing MSc in forensic Science , Ms Arya – Msc Graduate , Ms Anna-Pursuing Mba From Rajagiri College , Kakkanad, Ms Nitha-Content Writer, Mr David- Pursuing Pgdi, Mr Albin- Officer(Health Department) Govt Hospital,Thuravoor
The session included music, dance and as a part of team building activity, students were divided into two groups and were given a thread of a story by Mr Tony M Tom. Later the students were asked to perform a role play based on the story line and was asked to review by selected students from each group. A mock interview based on the story line was also set. Feedbacks were given by Mr Tony M Tom and the former RJ’s.
The session was informative and fun with tasks, discussions, debates and insights. The experience and exposure the former RJ’s received from Radio BMC with full support from the part of management and Mr Tony was highlighted by alumni. The workshop concluded with vote of thanks by Abena.

On the 19th of February 2022, the Postgraduate Department of English, Bharata Mata college, Thrikkakara organised a one day workshop entitled: 'Research Project Orientation Workshop'. The workshop was organised within the framework of the project perspective for college students to enhance consciousness of writing a research project. The Workshop was led by Dr. Viju Kurian, Department of English, Baselius College, Kottayam.
The aim of the workshop was to provide insight and understanding regarding the key concepts in planning and conducting research undertakings. The workshop was conducted via Google Meet an online platform. The workshop was attended by over 47 participants including teachers.
The Workshop started at 10.00 a.m by an opening speech made by Angela Jeel, postgraduate student. By 10.10 a.m , the resource person Dr Viju Kurian began the orientation workshop with a presentation.
This workshop broadly included:
• The three key factors to note when you are doing a research project.
• Overview on citation.
• What all are the steps involving in writing a project?
• Overview on what is literary theory?
• Brief outline on various literary theories before and after 20th century
• Provided examples of research projects applying literary theories.
• A Brief discussion with participants.
The Resource person presented a brief introduction of the three key factors to note, when you are working on a Research project. They are Research, Writing, Citation. A Research is a self study course. We have to give the same importance to the citations as one give simportance to the writing. Its a careful documentation. For Humanities , we have to follow the rules of MLA Format. Then the workshop provided the steps involved in writing a project, which are Pre Writing, Writing, Proofreading. After that the resource person gave presentation about various literary theories and its application in research topics. By applying literary theory, we will be able to understand and analyse a literary text better. Before 20th century there are Historical Criticism, Biographical Criticism, Aesthetic Understanding of the work. After 20th century these literary theories are not using exclusively. Practical Criticism, Formalism, New Criticism become more prominent. Thereafter various theories came into existence challenging theories of the past. Then the workshop provided a brief outline on Psychoanalytic criticism, Marxist theory, Feminist criticism, Post modernism, Post structuralism, Post colonial theory, Queer theory, Eco criticism and Eco Feminism,
Health Humanities, Pandamic literature, Dalit studies, Comparative literature etc. When we are choosing a Research topic, we have to look for patterns, repeating motifs present throughout the literary text, movie, art, etc. We also have to be remindful about the length of the Research paper.
The Orientation concluded with a discussion between participants and the resource person
Dr. Viju Kurian. He shared his views and provide insightful instructions on several research topics that participants were undertaking. At 12.15, the workshop came to an end with Vote of thanks proposed by Bhavya Vijay, undergraduate student, Bharata Mata College.

The Department of BBA organised an online workshop on new trends in software testing on 19 February 2022. The workshop was arranged by the spectrum group. Mr Joseph job was the resource person. Spectrum has about 20 years of experience in developing software in the field of Healthcare training, internship and academic projects. The workshop introduced different career options in the field of software testing and development. This workshop effectively discussed the questions like how to choose a career as a software developer and the role of a software tester in a company. The program was interesting and innovative. There were 95 participants including the program coordinator. It opened up new horizons for the participants.

On 4th December 2021, Bharata Mata Institute of Management organized a resume workshop with Mr. John Mathew Sebastian, the senior manager and head of talent acquisition, V-guard. The workshop was aimed at building a strong resume that is required for placement processes and to familiarize with the important topics and questions that are a part of the interviews. It was a full day program and was conducted at the seminar hall from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Mr. Sunil S. S., Placement Coordinator, introducied the guest to the group. The session was so interesting that it engaged every student by the different tasks assigned. The session ended at 4 pm.

A workshop on ‘Data Analysis in Research’ was conducted by the department of Finance & Taxation. The speaker for the session was Dr. Vineeth K.M of Government College, Thripunithura. The session took place at the computer lab and started by 10:00am and lasted till 2:30pm. Around 75 students attended the workshop. The workshop helped the final year students by getting adequate knowledge about the methods and tactics of completing the 6th semester project work. He also explained about the use of Google forms for data collection and taught about a data analysis in the software named Jamovi.
