COVID-19 Guidelines for Campus

The College Administration has issued the following guidelines in order to comply with the directives of the Ministry of Health and the Government of Kerala to help prevent the spread of Covid19 and other forms of lethal viral attacks:
 

  • Ensure physical distancing of at least six feet.
  • Use N- 95 masks or proper face-covers without fail.
  • Rub hands with sanitizer, while entering the Department-building/hostel/new premises etc.
  • Wash hands frequently with soap. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers wherever possible.
  • Self- monitoring of health by all and reporting of illness promptly.
  • Do not spit in public places.
  • Follow respiratory etiquettes strictly. This involves strict practice of covering one’s mouth and nose, while coughing/sneezing, with tissue paper/handkerchief/flexed elbow and disposing of used tissues properly.
  • Avoid group activities (both formal and informal), cultural activities, meeting etc. However, such extracurricular and sports activities may be allowed where physical distancing is feasible and is in accordance with the ministry of home affairs guidelines, issued under disaster management act, 2005 from time to time.
  • Install and use ‘Arogya Sethu’ App
  • Do not share books, other learning material, personal belongings and eatables.
  • Inculcate activities that will increase immunity-boosting which may include exercise, yoga, eating fresh fruits and healthy food (avoid fast food), sleeping well and for adequate time.
  • Do wear the ID cards on the campus and produce it for verification, whenever demanded.
  • Ensure the norms of physical distancing, sanitization and hygienic conditions for use of common facilities like auditorium, conference/ seminar halls, sports, gymnasium, canteen, and parking area etc.
  • Self-isolate and report to the college authorities and health department in case of any symptoms of covid-19.
  • Avoid discrimination of those fellow students with a history of covid-19 disease in the family.
  • Give support to your friends under stress due to covid-19 pandemic.
  • Faculty, Staff and students should submit self-disclosure report, if any, of their family members who have been infected/availed of treatment for COVID-19.
  • The students living in containment zones will not be allowed to attend the college. Students are also advised not to visit areas falling within containment zones.
  • To avoid the risk of transmission, the students, faculty and staff will be thermally screened. Symptomatic persons are advised to get clinically assessed before allowing them entry into the lab/classroom. Those having symptoms of fever, cough or difficulty in breathing are strictly prohibited from entering the campus.
  • Study tours, field works etc., will be restricted keeping in mind the pandemic situation. All such programmes and extracurricular activities should be avoided as far as possible.
  • Visitors without any substantial cause are not appreciated on the campus.
  • Hygiene protocols, as per safety and health advisories of the concerned government departments, are to be strictly followed at all places, including hostel kitchens, mess, washrooms, libraries, class rooms etc.
  • Contact hostel warden/staff advisors/heads of departments in case of health emergencies.
  • Waste masks and gloves on the campus should be kept in the paper bags provided for a minimum of 72 hours prior to disposal of the same as dry general solid waste after cutting the same to prevent reuse.
  • Tie-ups may be established with nearby hospitals, health centres, NGOs, health experts for help and support in fighting COVID-19.
  • All the faculty members, students and staff should be made aware of the Web page named “Manodarpan” – created on the Ministry of Education website to provide psychosocial support for Mental Health & Well-being during the COVID – 19 outbreak and beyond. The web page contains advisory, practical tips, posters, videos, Do’s and Don’ts for Psycho-social support, FAQ and online query system. Also, a National Toll Free Helpline (8445440632) for country-wide outreach to students from schools, colleges and universities has also been set up which will provide tele-counselling to address their mental health and other relevant psychosocial issues.
