Outreach Programmes

    • Padheyam –Bharata Mata College is the first college in Kerala to start a charity drive called Padheyam, which provides meals to the destitute (Launched on 15 August 2006, Padheyam has been widely acknowledged across the state and adopted by various colleges and schools. The campus ministry oversees the collection, distribution and conduct of the whole programme on a regular basis.)
    • ASAP – Bharata Matha College is a Teaching Partner Institution of Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP), a project launched by the Government of Kerala to equip higher secondary and college students with industry/business related skills
    • Haven for the Hapless – Under this initiative, Bharata Mata College Community constructed houses (one by NSS and two by faculty members) for three disadvantaged families; a fourth house (funded by the PTA) is underway
    • The teaching staff donated a dialysis unit to the Kidney Foundation, Kochi
    • Two bus bays constructed in front of the college for the students and other local commuters
    • The various college departments organised several visits to Karunalayam, Home of Faith (a home for the differently abled); select students interacted with the inhabitants and distributed gifts
    • The college organises blood donation camps to encourage students to donate blood
    • The college has been conducting an eye camp and a dental camp annually for the benefit of the students and the local community since 2012–13

    • BETA – Bharata Mata English Teaching Academy
    • Basic English course for ‘kudumbashree’, a women’s self-help group in Kerala
    • Certificate course in basic English for self-help groups
    • Training to enhance communication skills of high school students from disadvantaged sections of the society, held every Saturday in collaboration with AMAARA, an NGO

    • Computer literacy programme for ‘kudumbashree’, a women’s self-help group in Kerala
    • Demonstration of practical application of various principles in physics in the college lab for high school students of the locality

    • Distribution of Sarathi Mithra, a tourist handbook in six foreign languages, namely Spanish, German, Italian, Arabic, Japanese and French, to drivers of the locality

    Departments of Taxation

    • Meals on wheels – meals to bystanders of patients in cooperative medical colleges
    • Awareness programme in tax filing for school teachers
